How to be Safe and Spooky this Halloween!

Halloween is around the corner and the children are getting more excited as the day gets closer. While it’s an evening of fun festivities, for some parents, it can be accompanied by loads of stress on keeping our little ones safe. We’re here to share some tips and tricks to make the day as safe and fun as possible while alleviating any lingering worries.

Get in the Halloween Spirits!

All the costumes, games, and festivities can be overstimulating for some. Talking with your children about what the day will look like will help eliminate any overwhelming feelings. Practice knocking on the front door or walking up to someone sitting in their yard/driveway and saying trick or treat. Asking a neighbor or friend if they will practice with you can help make it even more fun!

Keep Calm and Pumpkin On!

Start talking to your kiddos about the safety rules of the night. All the anticipation for a month of halloween movies, parties, and activities will build up. It's common for the excited kids to want to hit the town running! Sharing and talking about the importance of staying with their family and group and to look out for cars when crossing the street beforehand can help prevent any quarrels.

Time to Get Lit!

…in the most safe way possible of course ;)

Let’s gather up all the essentials! Putting reflectors on before Halloween day will lessen that Halloween Day To Do List. You can cut the tape in fun designs to add to your kid’s costume. Battery powered lights are another creative way to shed some light to the wagon and strollers.

Time to look fa-BOO-lus!

Costumes are the best part. They give us little glimpses of your ghost and goblins personalities. While they are super creative and fun, be sure that it’s free of any potential hazards. Have your kids try on their costumes before to make sure they fit and there aren’t any loose strings or pants too big that might make them trip. Also don’t forget to check their masks and hoods to be sure they can see clearly! If you need to drive somewhere, please note that bulky costumes should be put on at the destination. Some costumes won’t allow for a safe install with car seats. Time to keep our little pumpkins safe!

Witchful Thinking!

While Halloween is a day full of imagination and excitement, it’s also a good idea to prepare for any possible hiccups. Be sure to bring an extra broomstick to make a clean getaway if any of your little monsters get tired! In other words, be sure to have your stroller wagon with you prepped with some jackets.

Another secret tip is prepping dinner before to make the night go a bit smoother. A good dinner before going can help curb any potential hanger and prevent from overeating too much sugar and causing bellyaches. Having their pajamas laid out and toothpaste and toothbrush out ready to go when you get home is a great trick!

The crockpot chili recipe here is a crowd favorite! Throw that in the morning and dinner will be a breeze!

Here for the Boos!

Last and most certainly not least- time for the parents to treat themselves! Parents put so much time into making holidays fun and full of memories, which can be a lot of work. Be sure to treat yourself to some of your favorite candies or pour yourself a spooky cocktail! You deserve it!
